Bowers & Wilkins C5 in-ear earphones
Building on the success of their P5 headphones and their Zepplen Air iPod/iPhone speakers, Bowers & Wilkins set about the task of creating their first ever in-ear earphone. Morten Warren from Native designs explains that their starting point was to analyse the most popular in-ear earphones on the market today and concluded that many of them were ‘styled’ rather than designed for audio reproduction and comfortableness.
During the design process Bowers & Wilkins made many breakthroughs and filed several patents and addressed some of the problems associated with owning and using a pair of in-ear earphones. The C5 uses a unique secure loop design which holds the earphone firmly in place and buy using a tungsten weight inside the earphone they are kept balanced towards the ear so that they stay securely in your ear. They also feature a Micro Porous Filter which is made up from hundreds of microscopic steel balls which act like a sonic diffuser, opening up the sound and making music feel remarkably rich and expansive.
The Bowers & Wilkins C5 in-ear earphone will go on sale this august
